Polignano

- THE PEARL OF THE ADRIATIC –

Have you ever walked in a poem? The historic center of Polignano has the characteristic of having poems written on the steps, on the rocks of the walls and in the most disparate places! A romantic way to tell the sea, the great inhabitant of this city. Considered the “pearl of the Adriatic”, Polignano, birthplace of Domenico Modugno, is about 47 km from Petranima: with its Arab, Spanish and Norman footprints, and its beautiful terraces overlooking the sea, attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.

Not to be missed

The Matrix Church of the Assumption with its unique mix of Gothic, Romanesque-Apulian and Baroque and the Abbey of San Vito, patron of the city, are definitely worth a visit. Also not to be missed is the Lama Monachile (hard not to notice!), two high rocky walls that create the famous “postcard” of Polignano.

The cove is easily accessible on foot and it is worth diving in its crystal clear waters to enjoy a unique panorama!
