A holiday in trullo is a journey to discover the uniqueness and tradition of Apulia…
The Focolare Suite is located inside a typical trullo saraceno. But why is it called “saraceno”?
For many years the coastal area of Apulia has been an important trade link between East and West, and this is also testified by the huge presence of ancient strongholds on the territory. For this reason it had to suffer attacks from various peoples, such as Turks and Saracens. If on the one hand these attacks have brought negative consequences, on the other they have also left to this land a rich architectural heritage with arabesque shades. Therefore, the adjective “saraceno” comes from the influence of these ethnic groups. The suite, at one time, was illuminated only by small windows and oil lamps, that is, lamps with glass bells generally lit on the table during meals. Its main room, which was used as a dining room, now houses the large bathroom of the suite. The bedroom corresponds to the original destination, a bedroom equipped with a majestic fireplace once used by the family for heating. The trullo, in fact, was certainly fresh in summer but the heating was not completely assured during the winter rigors.
The Focolare Suite is a double suite entirely carved into the rock. The bathroom is accessible through a glass door and the shower has a cylindrical shape. It covers about 25 m² and is perfect in every season. In fact, whether you are looking for relief from the outside heat in summer, or shelter from the cold near the hearth, this suite will ensure your holiday in trullo all the comforts you need, and at any time of the year!
